Diablo 3 VS Path of Exile: 2020 revisited

Path of Exile vs. Diablo 3 – how do these games compare, and how do they compare to the original king of the aRPG, Diablo 2? This is PoE vs. D3 part 2 – revisiting my original 2020 video. In the wake of Diablo Immortal, PoE 3.5 Betrayal League is seeing a huge spike in players.

Path of Exile gameplay shown.

  1. Once ur addicted to a free to play game with best gaming aspect, you will never move to paid thing which offers equal or less things compaired to free game. Thats the reason D3 is at biggest downside.

  2. I'm a huge fan of Diablo series, i first played Diablo at playstation with my cousin, i lost a big part of my life playing Diablo II. I started playing PoE like 4 mouths ago, and yes is a great game! I can't play Diablo III anymore, but I'll surely play Diablo IV

  3. Poe became stupid in end game, very stupid, damage over time its neglected in boss fights, 1 shoot kills are not fer compared to boss phases ,to much expensive to do solid end game,600 hours in game and with all skill and currency i can't have my own solid build to do blue t15 and over. maps waist of time after all, without end game, game its cool and amazing, every build u come across with win end boss.

  4. I like PoE but I really enjoy the simplicity of D3. WHen it comes down to it, yeah you have all those options in PoE… but their will always be a meta, so you will still just go for one thing.

  5. i personally love both games a lot and i have put a lot of time into both but right now i prefer path of exile due to the state that diablo 3 is in i feel like diablo 3 doesnt get enough content

  6. It never hit me until he was talking about it, but the Leagues of Path of Exile are kind of like beta tests of new content every 9-11 months. Everyone starts with a fresh character, and they play the old game with new features/content for those months, and then they are added to the standard game when the new beta test, I mean League, begins. The only difference is that beta tests are usually for entirely new games (even within the same franchise), not new content added to the existing game.
That might be at the heart of the problems that even Rhykker can't deny- that because of the different profit motives, the Diablo franchise is works to make a new game in the series every decade (lol), while PoE isn't reworking from scratch to build a new game, they are just adding content to the old one. As Rhykker talked about, Blizzard will pull their team off of the old game, because at a certain point their profit comes from selling the upcoming new game, not getting more people to play the old one. PoE gets it money in a different way, so it just focuses on getting people to play the old game. The differing profit motives explains not only why they release new content in different ways (selling a new game, instead of adding new content to the old one), but also why PoE is so much more responsive to the community, not only in terms of bugs/problems, but also suggestions from the community about content/features (for instance D3's lack of trading, despite the community asking for it). PoE actually benefits from following the new video game model, of having free-to-play (no pay-to-win) game, rather than the old model, of selling new games in the franchise; Blizzard doesn't care if you play the old game once you have bought it, so they put new content into new games, so that hopefully you will buy those; PoE wants you to continue to play, so they add new content and maintain the game better.

  7. "Both games are made for different audiences"

Path of Exile for everyone who loved Diablo 2.

D3 for anyone who hasn't played a dungeon crawler in their lives.

  8. I like them both, but I can't get my gf to play PoE with me.

She thinks it more fun because it's easier to play.

Even though I love both I definitely spend more time playing D3 and more time staring at menus in PoE
