To use your Original Apple SSD as a USB drive you need the following adapters:
1. for apple SSD to be converted to M.2 connector
2. any SSD enclosure that takes a M.2 considering the 1. item will be kind of bulky you can use this open type of USB If you want it to be in an enclosed type of case like USB you will have to shop by mostly none of them will fit.

To Create a Bootable USB drive with High Sierra you should, Open terminal and type this command :
sudo /Applications/Install macOS High –volume /Volumes/MyVolume –applicationpath /Applications/Install macOS High

or you can find that command on this link:

  1. I followed all of your steps but did it with macOS Catalina just incase anyone attempts it with Catalina it works just follow his steps and buy all of the tools used in the video. Great video thank you again for this video 🙌

  2. Appreciate the clear video instructions! It worked out for me. I actually installed the macOS first then went through to doing the time machine restore. I tried to restore via Time Machine first and it wouldn't show my backup on my external hard drive. But it worked after I installed the macOS during the start up installation. Either way, got the end result nicely! Thanks

  3. Hi, a nice video, I have 2014 MBP A1502 EMC 2875, is the Samsung NVMe 970 EVO the only drive that will work on my MBP? I don't mind if the size is 256gb, please reply and could you tell me what adaptor I need also. Thank you.

  4. Tanks a lot for those informations about all the material and equipment needed and this very clear step by step tutorial without which it should have been much more complicated for me to replace the SSD !
Everything seems to work just fine. Perfect !

  5. I did the SSD upgrade with the EVO 970 and long sintech adapter (in your video) on my MBP 13" Retina early-2015. I installed Catalina and migrated my old ssd files successfully. All was working fine the first 2 hours then no connection on any Apple applications- app store, email, safari. At first, Chrome was fine, but now that's not connecting either. iMessage texts go through but not images. Is it a faulty EVO, adapter, Catalina OS, or do I just have the wrong settings? Note: I do have wifi and I've done troubleshooting concluding that it is not the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!
